Board of Directors
Northwest Pilot Project relies on the combined skills and talents of board members for fund-raising, planning, development, policymaking, and fiscal/legal management. We are please to have these dedicated individuals on our board of directors.
Patty Brandts is the general manager of the Bite of Oregon which benefits Special Olympics of Oregon. She recently moved here from the Northeast where she was the Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce in Amherst, Massachusetts. She has an extensive background in management and marketing.
Berdine Buck grew up in South-Africa, moved to the USA in 1995 with her husband and one daughter. Her family became US citizens in March 2007. She has been an Oregon resident since October, 1998. She has been in Information management and consulting for most of her 20 years plus career. Her experience ranges from multi-million dollar system implementation projects to Sarbanes-Oaxley compliance projects across several business sectors, to name a few: Energy, Health, Public sector and Retail. Currently, she is working for ACME Business Consulting and managing an ERP implementation for Rejuvenation Hardware. She also serves on the EBS advisory board for the City of Portland.
Don Callendar,MSSW,LCSW has been the director of Social Work and Chaplain Services at the Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Portland since 2002. He received his MSSW in 1977 at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. He moved to Oregon in 1980 and began working as a clinical social worker at the VA Medical Center. In the early 1990's he served as Coordinator of the VA's Homeless Veteran Outreach Program, when he began his relationship with staff and services at Northwest Pilot Project. He joined the board in 2008. It is his first experience serving on a non-profit agency board and he is honored to be part of the NWPP.
Maggie Campbell is the Affordable Housing Compliance and Fair Housing Coordinator for Income Property Management. For the last ten years she has worked in real estate property management and has been at IPM for the last seven years.
Joseph Ceniceros is a retired judge who continues to provide judicial services on an intermittent basis for the State of Oregon. He is an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church. Joseph has been involved in several non-profits and served on the Board of Directors of the Morrison Center and Janus Youth Programs.
Susan Glen is a partner in the law firm Dunn Carney Allen Higgins and Tongue. She has practiced law since 1994. Her area of expertise is real estate acquisition, sale, leasing, development, and financing with focus on commerical real estate. She also has a master's degree in regional planning. Susan has been involved in the Commercial Real Estate Women's association (CREW) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA).
Linda Goodman recently retired from the USDA Forest Service where she was the Regional Forester for the Pacific Northwest Region. She managed 25 million acres of public lands in Oregon and Washington. She has volunteered in the past in the areas of rape prevention and advocacy for rape victims. Linda joined the NWPP Board in 2005.
Kathy Haines has over 13 years of experience in accounting, auditing, and business consulting. She currently works as a senior audit manager for Geffen Mesher & Company, P.C., where she enjoys working with clients in a variety of industries, including manufacturing, professional services and employee benefit plans. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, running, and volunteering. She is an active member of her church and a local Toastmasters group.
Kimberly Metcalf is the manager of the Web Management Organization at Portland General Electric. Her group has responsibility for strategy, analytics, usability, standards governance, and implementation of sponsored projects related to their customer-facing web sites. She also has more than 15 years of Information Technology experience, having previously served as a supervisor in the IT application support areas for Web and Distribution, as well as in project manager, lead, and analyst roles for Finance, HR, and Sales & Service groups. Prior to joining PGE in 1999 as a project manager, Metcalf worked at Nationwide Insurance for 14 years, serving in various capacities. Metcalf earned a Project Management Professional (PMP) designation in 2004, and has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the College of Idaho and a Master's degree in business from Marylhurst University.
Ann Middleton is a licensed clinical social worker with the Legacy Health System. She provides counseling and discharge planning services to patients of the Rehabilitation Institute of Oregon at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland. She and her son, John Mullis, have been honored by NWPP as Volunteers of the Year.
Dale Latham has served several terms on the Board of NWPP during the last 20 years and has been active on the Development Committee. He has recently retired from a career in power contract management at Bonneville Power Administration. In addition to his interest in low income housing for seniors, Dale enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, and traveling with his wfie, Marilyn and dog, Blue.
Fred Payne is the principal owner of two financial services firms: one is an investment advisory firm providing management to individuals, institutions and retirement plans; and the other is an actuarial and plan administration firm performing legal and accounting services for retirement plans and government municipalities. He is an avid bicyclist and skier, serving as the president of the Metro Ski League and officiates at high school ski races during the winter.
Linda Tran is a special projects manager at the Pedagogy Institute/Micro Enterprise Services of Oregon. She provides business consultations and technical support to low-income business owners to help them succeed in their business. She has a varied work background with her focus being work in the social sector. She was a member of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps after college. She has an undergraduate degree in Environmental studies.
Merrill Weyerhaeuser is a clinical psychologist in private practice in northeast Portland. While training to be a therapist she worked as a qualitative study on "Stability of Housing after Periods of Homelessness" by interviewing people who had been helped in finding and/or maintaining housing through NWPP.
