Dear friends and family:

I am writing to tell you about a wonderful social service agency in Portland that I am supporting this year. Northwest Pilot Project prevents and ends homelessness for very low income and disabled seniors with holistic services that both stabilize housing situations and address the root cause of homelessness. This amazing group of hard working social service professionals go the extra mile and then some on a daily basis.  In the last year, for example, they helped 532 people find and keep permanent affordable housing.  They helped over 400 seniors with transportation to medical appointments and grocery shopping.  Their goal is to help seniors live in safe, affordable housing for the rest of their lives.

I would be honored and grateful if you would help me to support Northwest Pilot Project’s valuable services by contributing a pledge for me in the 2012 Walk-a-thon which will be held on Sunday, May 6th.  This is their only fundraiser for the year, and corporate sponsors pay for all the Walk-a-thon expenses, so every dollar donated goes directly to serve their clients. Ranked by Oregon Business Magazine as one of the top 100 non-profits in Oregon, NWPP touches the lives of 3,000 people each year.   If you would like to know more about this remarkable agency I encourage you to visit their website at www.nwpilotproject.org. Click on the profiles of some of the many people NWPP has helped.

I am hoping to raise $              as a participant this year.

Thanks again for your support,

Possible letter addition:
If you would like to sponsor me, just let me know and NWPP will bill you after the walk.  You can also send me a check before the walk, made payable to NWPP.  One more option is to donate online.  Go to www.nwpilotproject.org, click on Walkathon, then click on Sponsor a Walker. They will let me know that you have donated so I can thank you personally.
