Housing:Services,Outcomes & Options

Northwest Pilot Project - HousingNorthwest Pilot Project's Senior Housing Program

NWPP believes availability of and access to affordable housing is essential to ending poverty and social problems stemming from poverty.  Our Housing Program is unique in that it tracks the outcomes of clients housed.

Housing Services provided:

Outcomes:

During our 2010-2011 fiscal year (July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011) NWPP's Senior Housing Program provided housing services to 1550 households needing a variety of assistance.  Of those:

We placed 70 households in transitional housing.

We placed 206 households in permanent housing.

We provided eviction prevention services to 241 households.

We provided 63 hotel/motel voucher placements.

We believe that long-term housing stability is the best measure of our success at ending or preventing homelessness for seniors.  We measure our clients' success in their housing at three regular intervals: 3 months, 6 months and 12 months after placement or eviction prevention services.

In 2010/2011, our success rates were as follows:

 88.7 % remained successful after 3 months

 87 % remained successful after 6 months

 80.78 % remained successful after 12 months

Housing stability can be effected by decreased income and loss of unemployment benefits.  Some of the individuals housed moved out of the area to seek employment.

    Single Room Occupancy (SRO)

Open Market (Non-subsidized) Apartments in Multnomah County (Section 8)
