Programs & Services

Northwest Pilot Project - Programs & ServicesHousing: Northwest Pilot Project provides assistance in obtaining and maintaining permanent affordable rental housing to low-income seniors 55 years and older, who live in Multnomah County and are capable of independent living. Also see Program Summary.

Information & Referral:  NWPP's Information & Referral Specialist provides information and referral assistance for those seeking services related to housing and other needs.  We strive to provide easy access to our services and want to ensure those in need of housing assistance are connected to the appropriate resources.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of assistance at  503-227-5605 or e-mail jasonc@nwpilotproject.org  Links to other resources.

Transportation:  Transportation is provided for medical appointments, shopping and business.  This program is for seniors 60 years and older and for people 55 years and older with disabilities.  Riders must live in the following zip codes:  97201, 97204, 97205 and 97209.  See Transportation Program page for more details.

AdvocacyNWPP's goal is to ensure every low-income senior in Multnomah County has a decent, affordable place to live.  Since there are not enough available apartments to meet their housing needs and since the downtown Portland core is continually losing units while replacement units are not keeping pace, we advocate increasing the supply, affordability and accessibility of housing.

Access to the Arts:  Local arts organizations and individuals donate tickets for senior clients to attend performances such as opera, ballet, symphony and theater.  Without these tickets, low-income elderly clients would not be able to attend due to barriers such as affordability of tickets, physical disabilities and need for transportation and escorts.

Housing Inventory: NWPP funds and publishes an inventory of housing affordable to very low income people and documents gains and losses of units in downtown Portland.

"Thank you, Northwest Pilot Project, for all your special efforts toward a livable community and making Portland better for everyone."         US Representative Earl Blumenauer
